My hope with each and every session that we shoot, is to create something unique. Something that stands out from all the other sessions. We definitely accomplished that here!

I'd been talking to James Kelly, the band's manager and creator of westcoastrock.ca for some time about doing a session with Danny and Anthony. At the same time... I'm constantly getting notes and messages from friends and aquiantances about who they think I should shoot with next. Danny's name had come up a few times, so figured it was time to set it up. Unfortunately, for all of us, it happened to fall on one of the coldest nights in a looooooong time!

We'd talked a bit about indoor locations leading up to the shoot, but they were pretty adamant about shooting in this location affectionately known as "The Creeper Shack". I'd seen a few images of it and wasn't incredibly jazzed on it, but eventually gave in... which ended up being a good call.

So we arrived at the location at about 6pm. It was pitch black and hovering somewhere around -10 degrees. I know all you non-westcoasters are probably laughing at us... saying "-10... that's nothing, why just the other day it was -46 in Winnipeg..." TRUE but like they always say... it's a dry cold. -10 out here is different. The air is damp and heavy and quickly pierces through to your bones. The original plan was to light with 2 propane camping lanterns which would give us light AND warmth, but that plan didn't fully come to fruition, so we ended up with a bag of 100 tealights instead. Enough light, but almost no warmth.

In the end, it all comes together to create some great ambience, which melds really well with Fairweather Father's style. To be honest I don't know how these guys did it. We took short breaks between songs so they could go hide in one of the cars and crank the heat long enough to get the blood circulating again, then plunged back into the frigid night for the next track.

Thanks again to Danny and Anthony for being such great sports and sacrificing to create something unique.
