I first discovered Zach's music early this summer on a website called withetiquette.com . It's basically a music licensing company that works with indie artists and offers up agreements specifically for wedding videographers & photographers. Great resource for both musicians (a place to submit and make some cash) and producers (always looking for good original music that can be licensed for a reasonable fee). Very shortly after discovering his music, it came across my facebook newsfeed that he was doing a small tour on the island right then. I scrambled to try and hook something up, but it didn't quite gel. I did get a chance to make the connection with Zach though, and he promised that we'd do a shoot when he came to the island again.

Good on Zach for following through! He contacted me in the fall to let me he'd be touring the island soon with an Australian singer/songwriter, Coby Grant. We made some tentative plans and agreed to iron things out as the dates approached. Then, before the tour with Coby even got started, came a pretty big bump in the road. Coby was denied entry into the country. Zach managed to get Andy Shauf on board to accompany him on the rest of the tour. As we got closer the dates it ended up working out that the best shooting opportunity would be on the night they were playing up in Port Alberni, which was good for me, because I hadn't shot there yet... so I was excited about new locations.

We met up down at the Quay and meandered around to a few locations and did the first few songs with Zach. As time was winding down we convinced Andy to play a song for us, too. If you get a chance to catch these guys on the tailend of there tour, or separately at some point... do it. Wonderful Canadian singer/songwriters. Each with a very unique style.
