WELL... This was a session like no other! It started off with a really casual call from Jordan Stringer, the mastermind behind Cabin Fever Studios. Jordan mentioned that some friends of his were coming through town and that it would be great if I could come out to the show at the Duncan Garage on an upcoming friday night... then maybe afterwards we'd be able to do a few non-chalant kind of recordings. Sounded like a great time, but I wasn't going to be able to make it. Then at the last minute, due to a serendipitous turn of events (ie, my girlfriend offered to watch the kids) I was able to make it for the evening of tomfoolery!

I was pretty stoked for the show, not just because of the samples of the bands I'd been able to find online, but because, believe it or not... this was the first show I was finally able to make it for at the Duncan Garage Showroom. Wow! What an incredible venue!!! Sometimes you feel like sitting down, having a few pints, chatting with your friends and whoopner-up!!! Well, if that's how your feeling... don't go to the Showroom. This venue is designed for people that are truely there to share in a live music experience. It's a small space with great ambience, fantastic sound and a hilarious host, Mr. Longevity John. This venue is quickly becoming one of the must-stops for bands touring the island. If you get a chance to take in a show at the Duncan Garage Showroom... do it, and you'll see what I mean. Okay, enough spewing and they're not even advertisers!

So, we take in the show, head back up to Jordan's fire up the hobo-fire in the ol' steel barrel.. things are looking good. Then comes the rain. We decided to setup a mic and a light under the cover of the hot-rod-shop-turned-music-studio... then another mic... and another. Before you know it, we're somewhere between a full on recording session and a typical naked.jams setup. Something I'd maybe call... a scantilly clad jam!!!???!!!

Anyway, by the time we get fully rolling it's starting to stretch in to the wee hours of the morning. Dave from The Warped 45s managed to get to wear the gas mask he'd snatched off the wall about 3 minutes after he'd arrived. So that was good. We were starting to loose band members to the comfy shag carpet in the main room of the studio, so we ripped off a few tracks with JJSTR and finally wrapped up the shoot at about 3:15am. For those of you that work fulltime in the music industry, that probably sounds like a normal night... but to those of us that still rock a 9to5er... that's pushin it pretty far!

Big thanks to all the band members for playing with us... we had a blast. And to Jordan for not only putting it all together, but for hosting us, sharing his beer with everyone, recording the tracks and giving the bands a place to crash. You're a good laddy! (read that last part with a scottish accent, sounds way cooler)
