What a blast this shoot was!!! I think my favourite part is that it wasn't really "supposed" to even happen... it all just fell together. The ball started rolling when I was trying to fill in some time I had down in Victoria with a shoot. I've got a few bands from Vic on the list, but most of them were out of town with the Canadian Music Week back east. So, I hit up Mike Edel (previously featured in session.002) and asked if he had any suggestions. He said to leave it with him and he'll see what he can come up with. So I did!

Jump ahead to 3:00 on saturday afternoon (the shoot was setup for 5:30 to give you some scale...). I called up Mike to see what the plan was. Mike, being the casual kinda feller he is, says to me, "ah... yeah... let's do something. I think I can call up a friend, maybe 2 and we'll figure something out.". We agreed to meet in the bustling village of Cadboro Bay and treat the fine folk there to some of Mike's music. 5:30 strikes and I'm parked in front of Pepper's Market getting things setup. As I hear a vehicle approaching I look over and recognize Mike as the driver of the stylish, mauve (or is it fushcia?) nice reliant auto-mobile. He jumps out with the 2 friends he promised. As we were discussing what the plan was a couple more friends showed up. One with violin in tow. The other turns out to be our percussionist for the evening. Now we've got a 5 piece band, one microphone and no plan. What should we do? What would you do? Mike knew what to do.... " I know this house just down the road, my neighbours. Let's just go crash their place." And we're off!!!

We pull up to the house, unload the vehicles and come up with some sort of plan. It was decided Mike should go knock on the door and at least give them some sort of heads-up. Seconds later our group, which actually totals 10 if you include the production crew, is filing into the living room of these unsuspecting residents. A mass of chatter and confusion unfolds and literally seconds after we all storm into the house the sung has begun. No explanations... no preparations. Here we are! Accept it! Love it! And they did.... Huuuuuuuuuuuuge Kudos to the girls for being so welcoming to this mished-mashed group that just totally disrupted their fleece blankie shrouded saturday couch fest. Sorry girls.... but in the melee, I didn't even get a chance to introduce myself or say thanks... but THANK YOU!!!!! We couldn't have picked a better household to invade.

Well, how do you top that? Not sure... more confusion perhaps? EXACTLY!!! We return to Pepper's Market and set up right smack dab in the doorway, instantly turning our audience into participants.

The want for the unsuspecting spectators continues. Off to the UVic bus loop we go! And we almost pulled it off... but Dang you BC Transit and your punctuality... a bus showed up and whisked away are fans. At this point, I think the adrenalin and endorphins had started to subside, so we rounded off the set with a nice mellow piece in a shelter.

What a session!!! A huge thank you to everyone that was involved in this shoot. This is exactly the type of experience I was hoping to have when I started this project. Wicked!
