Chris (aka Kid on the Pavement) and I have been talking for a while about doing a session. Finally things all lined up so I was able to make the trek down to Victoria to shoot a couple sessions. Fingers were crossed for some decent weather because pretty much all of the locations we had talked about shooting at were outdoors. I woke up to a nice sunny day so was really stoked for the shoot.

We met up at the courtyard of the library downtown to record the first song. I arrived first and I was getting things setup I couldn't help but notice there was a great natural reverb to the space which is always nice when you're shooting on location. Soon enough the camera was rolling and we were finished track #1... off to find the next location.

After a short stroll up the street, under the cover of clouds of cherry blossoms, we arrived at one of Victoria's huge stone churches. The door was open with a "welcome" sign, so we headed in. Oh my Go--- hmm, maybe not the best choice of expletives there. Let's just say it was an incredibly gorgeous space and the reverb was phenomenal. After unsuccesfully trying to get permission we were back on the streets looking for the next place to shoot. Chris said one of the songs he really wanted to play would be cool in a cemetery because it was a bit darker and kinda suited. And, voila... right next to the church, as one would expect, there was a small, old cemetery/city park and the light looked really good so we got setup and laid it down.

Back to the trusty steeds and off to Beacon Hill park we go! We walked around the park for a while trying to find the right spot. I noticed we were starting to lose the sun a bit, but things still looked good. Eventually, we ended up at the stone bridge and did our thing. Then we decided we'd head off to the Ogden Point breakwater for number 3. This is when things took a bit of a turn.

As we were gathering in the parking light the skies darkened. Slowly mother nature started to release her sorrows on us. Light sprinkles turned to to full on rain and we decided that if we were gonna do it, we had to make it happen before it got any worse. It's a good things the walk out to the end of the pier is so much longer than it looks, because by the time we got there the rain had completely stopped, although by now we were all soaked and pretty effing cold. Thanks to Helijet and the busy harbour that Tourism Victoria likes to brag about, we had to do a few retakes. Unfortunately, after all that we somehow ended up with a few moments of over modulation on the audio. Still can't figure out for the life of me what caused that.... raindrops in the mic capsule perhaps? Not sure.

Thanks again to Kid on the Pavement for sticking with us on that last one and dragging that gorgeous 60 year old guitar along for the journey. Sorry for making you wait in the car for so long, Ziggy. Like I said... that walk is alot longer than it looks. Big thanks to Jordan Mann for running the audio on the shoot. Short sleeves, maybe not the best call though! And once again, thanks to photographer Jesse Bone for coming along to capture some behind the scenes action. A couple of his pics are below, but to see more check out his blog at jessebone.com/blog
