When Aaron Bethune (artist manager/consultant... you should know him if you want to get serious about your career as a musician --- www.playitloudmusic.com) contacted me about doing a session with Eliza Smith I was excited to see what we could do. I first heard of her a couple years when she was doing some recording. I never really heard her music at that time though so when I listened to a few tracks I was extremely impressed. At the same time, I wasn't totally sure how her genre (r&b/soul with a hip-hop flavour) was going to work as an acoustic session. She worked on some arrangements with Ayaka Kinugawa on the piano and we setup to get into St. Andrew's church for the shoot. That was a great call because the acoustics were incredible and they let us use their grand piano as well. Very cool!!!

For the second part of the shoot we wanted to try something much more loose.... so we setup downtown at The Vault coffee shop (big thanks Demeter!!). The first track was an on-the-spot improv which turned out great. For the last track we pulled Duncan in to take over the guitar work (who just happened to pop into The Vault) and Andrew jumped back on the bongos

Thanks to everyone for all their work on this shoot.... Jesse Bone for running the boom, all the artists, Aaron for helping to arrange things and St. Andrew's and The Vault. And of course, Music Maxx ( musicmaxx.com ) for their continued support of the local music scene. If you don't shop there... you should!!!!

Allright... go treat yourself to this amazing voice.... watch the videos.
